Citizens of the World Educational Adventures
These trips provide our students the opportunity to travel to different locations throughout the world and experience different cultures, traditions, languages and customs. Started in the spring of 2004, Mrs. Guerrero (then middle school coordinator) and Ms. Beeman planned a trip in which 35 students and 13 adults boarded a chartered bus and traveled through New Mexico, Arizona and into Las Vegas. Many students saw the Grand Canyon for the first time and walked the rim of the Meteor Crater.
Since that time, students have visited New York City, Niagara Falls, Washington DC, Italy, France and England. Our future adventures will include Costa Rica 2008, Spain 2009, and 2010 is still in the planning stages.
Participating in these trips is an experience of a lifetime and an opportunity that most people never have the chance to experience. Join us and broaden your horizons.
All 7th -12th grade students are eligible to participate.

DHPH Foreign Exchange Program Growing
Since the beginning of the school year, Dolores
Huerta has housed, academically, twenty-one foreign
exchange students from various countries throughout the
world that include, Ecuador, Germany, Brazil, France,
Portugal, Finland, Vietnam, China, Taiwan, and Albania.
These students will have the opportunity to learn about
a different culture in the classroom and experience a
new culture outside of the classroom as well. DHPH staff
and students are looking forward to learning about
cultures different from a person that lives that life,
rather than from a textbook.
As we increase the number of foreign exchange
students that we accept, the need for host families also
increases. Host families are people within the community
that have a strong desire to bring a student from a
foreign country into their home for a year, creating an
opportunity for their family to experience a different
culture and provide a loving environment for a teenage
student that is far from their own home. Therefore with
this increase in exchange students we are still looking
for any family interested in hosting a student, either
for the remainder of the current school year or for the
2008-2009 school year.
Becoming an exchange student is an opportunity that
is also available to any DHPH student who wishes to
study abroad for a semester or for a full year.
The Foreign Exchange program at DHPH is the epitome
of the mission and vision for our school, which includes
becoming "Citizens of the World ". What
better way to achieve that goal than to see the world
and ultimately bring the world to us?
